If you’ve been in the game a while, chances are you’ve heard of Steve Liberati. He owns a paleo snack company that donates 15% back to bring CrossFit to at-risk youth. His story is a perfect example of our community in action.
In 2007, Steve was working as an exterminator, but his real passion was CrossFit. After getting to know some kids on his route, he invited them to workout in a park. Steve knew they didn’t have many recreational options in their dangerous neighborhood.
Before long, Steve had a tribe of kids he trained regularly with whatever equipment he could fit in his trunk. Steve wanted the kids to eat healthy at school, so he packaged beef jerky, nuts and berries to stay fresh in their backpack. And the PaleoKit was born.
As Steve’s little club grew, he began selling PaleoKits online to raise money for the kids, and CrossFitters everywhere jumped onboard. Now Steve’s PaleoGoods makes 50 products and can be purchased online and in gyms across the country. As the company grew Steve’s commitment to the kids grew as well, and 15% of the proceeds go to Steve’s Club National Program (SCNP) that now has 30 Local Clubs.
Steve’s team is looking for more box owners that want to make a difference. SCNP provides the framework for you to easily set up and mange your own non-profit with no legal legwork. Your Affiliate Guard policy will cover your Local Club, all you have to do is make sure your trainers have background checks and CrossFit Kids certifications.
